If only I had known you when you were five,
we'd be able to run together with shoes untied,
ankles bare,
and prickly sides-
we'd be consumed with laughter.
And if only I had known you when you were eight,
rolling down hills and catching on our tongues snow,
silly faces,
and ignored toys-
we'd create our own amusement.
And since I never knew you then,
I'd like to take all the moments that we have
and make up for the ones that have never been.
Today let's rile a snowball fight on the
way to the car,
or play hide and seek under covers,
or pillow fights in the livingroom.
For as long as I grow older,
I'll find our love forever young.
