Quote of the day:
"I am certain there is too much certainty in the world."
-Michael Crichton
The quote comes from Crichton's book State of Fear, in which Crichton gives his view of the topics of global warming. Crichton's point is quite significant. If we over politicize the scientific matters of the world, we forget the terrifying reality of the world we live in: we don't know everything. There's a point in which humanity can continue to seek explanations for every little event that occurs around us, but the truth of the matter is that we do have a limit.
We explain our intelligence on evolution. Clearly, if we were truly evolving, we'd eventually be able to figure out all things in our lifetimes. If we were evolving, we'd know more at birth and wouldn't have to learn. Arithmetic would result out of nature as opposed to nurture.
Instead, maybe there was a blueprint of our existence.
Every year there are more theories about global warming. Every year we discover new cures for different diseases.
What if we learned to better treat our bodies in a healthy manner, thus preventing the turmoils of cancer? What if we went back to walking instead of driving for the sake of our minds, bodies and environments? Sometimes we do not need explanation with result of definite conclusions to realize that our world has changed fast. We don't need to give into that pace. With great invention comes convenience, and with convenience with merit sloth.
I challenge you:
Go without eating processed and high marketed foods for a week.
Go out and walk for at least 30 minutes.
Go to a used bookstore and read a book.
Do something, I plead with you, that works your mind simply to engage it. Work your muscles to keep busy, not only to be healthy. Eat something wholesome that will give you energy without a crash later. Do it because it is good for you, and don't ask why.
